Mr. Constantin Roibu, general manager of the state-owned OLTCHIM Chemical Works, makes proof of his immaturity when he attacks directly or otherwise some of the journalists in Valcea department.Mr. Constantin Roibu did not protest when a senator in the Romanian Parlament expressed his opinion that a magazine director should be chased out of the department for alluding to Mr. Roibu’s meddling in local political affairs.Mr. Constantin Roibu did not protest when the same senator a former business partner of Mr. Roibu’s expressed his opinion that the Romanian Intelligence Service should somehow punish the journalists who criticized the management of OLTCHIM.Mr. Constantin Roibu did more than that.In a series of press releases Mr. Roibu spoke of treason and instigated to terror against those journalists who pointed their finger to bad management as possibly responsible for OLTCHIM’s huge losses. Rumor has it that some journalists were spied upon during a recent visit to Brussels where they intended to file a complaint exposing Mr. Roibu’s meddling in local media in order to discourage or suppress critical opinion.I joined the group of journalists and I believe there is nothing they could be blamed for. Why then the need to be spied upon in a securitate-like manner?I believe it is time Mr Roibu stopped practicing or encouraging such dubious maneuvers. A press release will be welcome where Mr. Roibu disowns such meddling in the democratic life of the community and the media’s right to speak freely, a press release whereby Mr. Roibu expresses his abidance by the democratic constitutional liberties and man’s fundamental rights, such as the freedom of speech.Otherwise we will have been right to call the manager „A Gaddafi from Valcea”We hope things will go back to normal and we join Prime Minister Emil Boc who, during his visit to Pitesti, promised that wise decisions will be taken so that the state budget will no longer be adversely affected by state-owned companies which register losses and direct funds towards client businesses.Semnatura: Redactia revistei CRITERII
